RIDGELINE H7 cold-start times below -20C?

By R. Okafor · August 14, 2026

Planning a winter training block where overnight lows sit around -25C. The spec sheet lists an operating range but says less about how long the H7 takes to come up from a cold soak. Has anyone run one outdoors overnight? Trying to decide whether we need a heated staging tent.

We ran two overnight at about -22C last winter. Both came up, but slower than in the shop. A tent was not necessary, but keeping the battery packs in a warm vehicle overnight made the biggest difference.

Good advice from M. Reyes. Below -20C, store the battery packs warm and install them just before power-up. The H7 runs a short self-heat cycle on a cold start, so expect a few extra minutes before it reports ready. If you see a fault code during that cycle, open a depot ticket through the portal and include the serial.
